Sports events have long been recognized as a catalyst for community development, fostering social integration, economic growth, and improved quality of life. In Sokoto North LGA, sports events range from local football tournaments to regional athletic competitions, drawing participants and spectators from diverse backgrounds. These events provide opportunities for youth engagement, cultural exchange, and the promotion of healthy lifestyles. Additionally, they contribute to the local economy by generating revenue through ticket sales, tourism, and related activities. However, challenges such as inadequate infrastructure, limited funding, and organizational inefficiencies often hinder the full potential of sports events in driving community development. This study examines the impact of sports events on community development in Sokoto North, highlighting the benefits, challenges, and strategies for maximizing their potential.
